How SideWiki will change Blogging

What is Google SideWiki?
SideWiki enables any user with the appropriate browser and Google Toolbar to add comments or useful information about a site or specific elements within the site.

What makes it cool?
1) With a link to your Google Profile and maybe even blog, people can quickly get an idea of your expertise and integrity regarding your posts.

2) All your posts can also be posted to your blog and fed to rest of the federation.

So what? Now what?
Well firstly this might replace the normal "comments" section found on most websites these days. When you post a comment on an article or web page it is stuck there. You are also probably the 1000+ John Smith user to try and use the user name John, Johns or JSmith, but now you log in with your Google Profile and can manage all your posts.

This tool therefore bridges the gap that exist in blogging about a topic and trying to link it to a certain web page or article. Many a time you find yourself on the site that you want to post about, but now you have to log in to your blog and switch between the two windows. But now you can blog about the site AT the site!

In the past the people reading your post and going to the site that you referenced would have to read through the whole site or find the piece you are referring to. But now you can highlight it and quickly add relevant information to the parts you choose.

Another awesome thing is that by posting in the SideWiki, you add your expertise or knowledge, but very importantly you also retain your Intellectual Property. Well, technically...

All posts and therefore knowledge is now captured on a Google system somewhere in the web. Instead of capturing your comments on a website and then have Google spiders to cache it, you now supply Google directly with the knowledge and they don't even have to search for it.

Scary stuff. But please note that I haven't read the privacy policy about and around Google SideWiki.

Finally a more correct take on the triple bottom line.

It's good to know the business world is addressing the issues regarding the climate change.

With so much demand (read "greed") and the lengths people are willing to go to get what they want without taking into account the impact (sometimes permanent) this post by Green living tips about getting A green MBA is a welcoming step from the business environment (pardon the pun).

Center of Gravity

wake up
The dream shrinks and the sepia room fades in from black.
I turn on my other side and frown as I float in the emptiness.
Dimensions expand and I feel as small as the ants that are dissolving my flat one sand particle at a time.
It's still dark. The sun doesn't like the winter. So it stays away. But it feels guilty so it sends the clouds to keep us company. But the clouds are actually just there to hide the sun from us, so that it doesn’t have to face the cold reality of it’s actions.
It's days like these that I just want to sleep forever.
But like a black hole I am pulled apart and condensed at the same time.

wil2d: Personal

After a lot of reflection and recent discussions with someone close to me, it has dawned on me today that I tend to be Patronizing and Judgemental.

On the one hand this is a somewhat disappointing discovery but also exciting because it prompts me to grow.

I will post on my journey to become "not so much of a judge".

wil2d: Vlookup & Hlookup with more than one key or lookup value

If you have to do a lookup on more than one field make a simple combined key by concatenating the "key" fields that you want to lookup on and lookup to. If the key's doesn't change that much (which it shouldn't!) value paste your concatenated key to save calculation time, although I have found that it is very little. The lookup will always sap the most calculation time so depending on how dynamic you lookup should be you can value paste this as well. This WILL save a lot of calculation time.

If you have to delete some records that contain vlookup's or hlookup's, always delete your vlookups before you delete the keys! This is has crashed my Excel a couple of times today.

This concludes my very first entry of What I Learned Today or in short: wil2d.
